I am a visiting professor at the ILLC (u. van Amsterdam) from IIT Kanpur, India. My apartment is in an ancient house, overlooking the Oudezijds Kolk, a canal dating from 1532. Across the narrow pedestrian-only lane below my window is the stern facade of Sint Nicolaaskerk and its stained glass windows.
The Irish pub Molly Malone is just below my window, and I can hear the shouts and screams from its canalside tables as I type this in the dying hours of the day...
I shall be updating this blog from early May till late July, 2009...

Birds of IIT Kanpur:
I live in IIT Kanpur, which is a green campus in the middle of a bustling crowded city. The birds have very little greens to go elsewhere in the city. We get some 200+ species visiting us in campus, and I have seen about 50 species in my own garden.
Book Excerptise:
Excerpts, sometimes rather extended, from books.
